第2回スピーチコンテスト「優秀賞」発表！！と先生からのコメント。

総勢23名の生徒さんがチャレンジしてくれました。

今回で2回目となりました「Storytelling Challenge」には今年の4月から英語をはじめたばかりの生徒さんからバイリンガルさんまで、さまざまな英語力の生徒さんが合計23名参加してくれました。

それぞれの経験値・レベルのなかで一生懸命練習したぶん、みんなの英語力は積み重なり、また大勢の人前で発表するという経験はみんなの自信につながったと思います。そんな生徒さんを先生たちはみんな誇りに思っています。

優秀賞は3名に決定しました。

「Pat the Cat and the Sad Rat」のストーリーの優秀賞は。。。Yさん！！パチパチパチ！！

「The Wide Pond」のストーリーの優秀賞は、、、2名選ばれました。KさんとRさんです！！パチパチパチ！！

先生からのコメント・メッセージ

Dear Speech Contest Participants and Parents,
スピーチコンテストに参加をしてくれたみんなと保護者様へ

First of all, Congratulations to all of the participants in this year’s speech contest! It takes a lot of courage and determination to stand up in front of an audience and tell a story in another language. Everyone did such an amazing job and should be proud! We hope you take this experience as proof of your ability to speak English and use it to further improve.
まずは、今回のスピーチコンテストに参加をしてくれた全員に「おめでとうございます！」。人前に立って、外国語でストーリーを披露するにはたくさんの勇気と決意が必要です。みんな、とっても素晴らしかったですよ。よく頑張りました！みんなが、この体験を自分が英語を話すことができる証明ととらえ、さらなる上達に役立ててくれることを願っています。

There were many things we were looking for in the winners’ speeches this year, even more so because everyone did so great! The winners of this year’s speech contest showed the highest level of oral ability; this includes: proper pronunciation of words, a steady pace, intonation, and volume. The winners showed the ability to accomplish this as well as adding character personalities to their storytelling!
スピーチコンテストでは、優勝者を選ぶにあたっていろいろな部分を見ました。みんなが素晴らしいスピーチを見せてくれたのでなおさら！今回のスピーチコンテストの優勝者は、高いレベルでの口述力（語彙の正しい発音、安定したペース、イントネーション、声のボリュームを含む）の他に、ストーリーにそれぞれのキャラクターを加えて見せてくれた生徒さん達となりました。

Another thing we judged heavily on is gesturing. Body language is very important when speaking English, and while telling a story this is doubly true. Many participants were able to stay “loose and relaxed” while telling the story, but our winners this year were able to really show the meaning of the story through motion!
もう一つ、優勝者を決めるにあたり重要視をした部分がジェスチャーです。ボディランゲージは、英語を話す際にとても重要。ストーリーを話す際にはその2倍重要です。多くの参加者さん達はくつろいでリラックスができた状態でストーリーを披露してくれましたが、優勝者さん達はジェスチャーを通じてストーリーの内容を表現してくれました。

On a final thought, please remember this contest is for fun and the most important part is that everyone tried their best, and always continue to try their best in future contests and in the classroom. We have a new story every month and give the chance to practice telling it every day!
最後に、このスピーチコンテストは楽しむための会であり、一番大切なことはみんながチャレンジをして頑張ってくれたことです。毎月、スクールでは新しいストーリーが登場しており、日々のレッスンでも練習をする時間を設けています！今後のスピーチコンテストも、普段のレッスンでもベストをつくしてチャレンジを続けてください。
